Dangerous Rhetoric in Political Climate

The Obama - Kennedy comparison is the first and foremost example to come to mind when I think of dangerous rhetoric in today's political climate. Sure, this may create a sense of nostalgia and an aura of excitement, however, the era of Kennedy was short lived and tragic. Those who make this comparison may want to reconsider the ramifications.

Of course there is a celebrity type quality about Obama. Many wish to capitalize on this quality which is normal and to be expected. Let people have their moment in the sun and basque in his popularity. Why not cherish the uniqueness of Obama's moment?

Comparing him to Kennedy, however, maybe a disservice to him.

Now, I'm far from a Democratic supporter, so, please stop scratching your head. I am a supporter of decency and fairness and human ambition. Anyone who aspires to the difficult debate process that today's political candidates do should be afforded the concern and protection that this level of involvement projects. While there's glorification in the Obama - Kennedy comparison, in a world where exists twisted and despised mentality, there's glorification in the assassination of Kennedy for some. Unfortunately, people are still disturbed and their plight in life may seem more highlighted than less with social extremes that we see.

On a less distinct level, campaign promises are sometimes dangerous rhetoric in themselves. I take the direction of America very seriously. Saying what you mean and meaning what you say still pulls weight with me. Don't place the burden of deciphering political speech upon your voters. If you believe what you say, as I know that my candidate of choice, Mike Huckabee, does, there will be voters standing with you. In the seriousness of this political outcome, having the most voters on your side may not be as important as remaining true to your convictions. My personal viewpoint is that this is most difficult for Democratic candidates simply because supporting things such as abortion will never ring true in the depths of your heart. Yes, there are many issues, but your stand on this one and your ability to remain steadfast on this one tells me a lot of what's in your heart.
