I Report, You Decide: Romney's Mormon Faith

Recently, I had an internet superhighway collision because of a statement I made about Romney and his Mormon faith. I admitted that I was wrong to classify him in the same category as Warren Jeffs, the Mormon who was on the FBI's 10 most wanted list for arranging marriages with underage girls, the same ages as some of your junior high school girls, but, I believe that my heart was reaching for something because I feel very unsettled about the Mormon faith.

I've done a little research and I think it would be wrong to not take a look at what is involved in the Mormon faith. Before I start, however, please know that I believe people have a right to choose what they believe. Conversely, I have a right to make known points that cause me to question.

This is something I came across:

Mormon vs Biblical Teachings about God

Mormon Teaching
Biblical Teaching
One God
God is only one of many gods 1 There is only one God 2
The Trinity
Jesus, God the Father, and the Holy Spirit are three distinct Gods 3 There is one God with three distinct persons in the godhead 4
Changeable
God was once a man who achieved godhood 5 God is unchangeable, has always been, will always be God 6
Essence
God has flesh and bones 7 God is a Spirit, omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent 8
Marital Status
God has eternal wives 9 God stands alone as God and Creator 10
Adam
Adam was the God of this world 11 Adam was only a created man 12

9. The Mormon church teaches that we have a Heavenly Mother as well as a Heavenly Father.

  • Brigham Young stated: "Brother Kimball quoted a saying of Joseph the Prophet, that he would not worship a God who had not a father; and I do not know that he would if he had not a mother; the one would be as absurd as the other" (Journal of Discourses, vol.9, p.286).
  • Apostle Orson Pratt stated: "But if we have a heavenly Mother as well as a heavenly Father, is it not right that we should worship the Mother of our spirits as well as the Father? No...it is lawful for the children to worship the King of Heaven, but not the 'Queen of heaven'" (The Seer, p.159).
  • Apostle Bruce McConkie writes: "Implicit in the Christian verity that all men are the spirit children of an Eternal Father is the usually unspoken truth that they are also the offspring of an eternal mother. An exalted and glorified Man of Holiness (Moses 6:57) could not be a Father unless a woman of like glory, perfection, and holiness was associated with him as a mother...This doctrine that there is a mother in heaven was affirmed in plainess by the First Presidency of the Church...when...they said..'that all men and women are in the similitude of the universal Father and Mother'" (Mormon Doctrine, p.516, 1966).
  • Milton R. Hunter (First Council of the Presidency) states: "The stupendous truth of the existence of a Heavenly Mother, as well as a Heavenly Father, became established facts in Mormon theology" (The Gospel Through the Ages, p.98, 1958).
  • Linda Wilcox reports recent discussion of this subject in the LDS Church: "Lately there has been increased discussion and speculation about how we can or do relate to our Heavenly Mother (or possibly mothers?). Orson Pratt taught that we are not to worship the mother of our spirits although we worship the father...Rodger Clawson, however, pointed out that men as well as women and children crave a Mother in Heaven to worship and 'yearn to adore her'. He said, 'It doesn't take from our worship of the Eternal Father, to adore our Eternal Mother... Currently, there is no encouragement on the part of the Mormon church leaders to pray to a Heavenly Mother, and in fact even active discouragement...Still, there has been recently a more evident desire to reach out to Mother in Heaven in some way..." (Sunstone, vol. 5, no.5, p.13-14).

In today's complex world, filled with those who want to destroy/annihilate America and her allies, it's imperative that we have a leader who relies on truth. A leader who, if he professes that he has faith in God, truly calls upon the real God. There are not many gods. The Muslim faith calls upon a "god" that is not real, either, and this has led to oppressions and murders.

Man, when left to his own devices, creates his own god. The more convoluted this is, the easier it is for followers to justify their actions.

While I feel that people have the right to choose their belief system, I also feel I have the right to question those who want to lead America to victory in the war on terror. The belief system of America's leader, in these warfront times, is of paramount importance. Even if you're not a Christian, just the way the world is kind of makes you want someone with spiritual gut, I would guess.

Yes, I realize my writings are very severe. Please allow me to offer a hand of conciliation. Mormons are generally some of the sweetest people I've ever known. My heart feels warm towards the Mormons that I have known.

There's just a lot to consider. I've given you some more things to consider, based upon research.

Thanks for taking the time to do just that.

Rainbows I Remember

Rainbows I Remember

The promise of the rainbow is not just beautiful, it's divine.  We look at the rainbow and we remember that God promised that He would never cover the earth with water, again.

Though our times be as destructive and wicked as they were in the day of Noah, we have the promise that God will never cover the earth with water.  The rains will never pour down as they did that day. What a promise that God has given us.

Did you know that the rainbow is also mentioned in the vision that Ezekiel had of the wheels in the wheels? In the midst of the destruction that was prophesied, the rainbow was there, a reminder that God will not destroy the earth with a flood ever again.  Though the waters rise and we feel overwhelmed, God will not allow the raging waters to overflow in our lives.  He will keep us safe, if we trust and obey.

The rainbow is also in the book of Revelations.  Again, a reminder for us that we will not experience the wrath of God if we follow His word, Jesus.  It's inserted at the end of the Bible, to be inserted into our minds and our hearts for all of eternity.  When we see the rainbow, at the end of the storm, we are reminded of God's promise to never again destroy all flesh and every living thing.

Wouldn't it be great if that were the end of the story? Rainbows and beauty and glory and promise.  A lovely ending to a lovely tale.  We have the promise that no matter what happens, when the floods begin to rise and all of life seems just too much, too overwhelming, we have the promise of the rainbow.

It's not the end of the story, however.  The rainbow serves another purpose, that you and I may not have caught.

Genesis 9:15 states, "I will remember my covenant".

Did you hear that?

He will remember.  When He sees the bow in the clouds, He will remember.  It's not just so that when we look at the rainbow, we put it into our remembrance and we repeat it over and over to ourselves, that our knowledge of Noah's flood gives us safety from the storm.  It's that "the bow in the clouds" is there so that God will remember His promise to us.

Our safety is His concern, His charge to Himself.  That's His part in our lives and He volunteered for it.

Do you think He didn't see? He didn't see. . .  the world would become just as wicked and vile and much more than it was in the days of Noah?

Of course He did.  He knows the heart of man.  He knows the heart of you and me.  It's no surprise to God that the world is wicked and vile.

He knew it would become that way, again.

The difference in today's world?

The difference is the pain.

Tremendous pain it caused the heart of God to see all that He had created, then destroyed by the flood.  It was unbearable to His heart, almost as unbearable as the "State of the Nation" that brought about the destruction from the flood in Noah's day.  The state of the nation was not good at that point in time.

Do you think God assesses the state of the nation any differently, in our present day?

We have to, even if we tried to put blinders on, we would have to determine that God does not assess the state of the nation differently than he did in Noah's day.  But,. . .

He remembers.

He remembers the pain that He felt when that which He had created and loved was so completely lost that the only salvation was judgment.  True judgment left nothing vile to continue its downward course.  A clean slate was given, yet, history would record the flood.  The only thing that was left of unrighteousness was a memory.  And man would continue to remember the flood and what had brought it about.

But God.

God would remember the pain of seeing His creation destroyed.  He would know that He could never allow that again.  He, too, remembers what brought the flood about.  A wicked generation!

Perhaps we can change the course of time.  Perhaps, we can remember pain that has come into our own lives because of a wrongdoing.  Whether we were the victims or the perpetrator, indescribable pain was the result.  Get just a glimpse.  Magnify that pain across all of creation, and see what it must do to the heart of God.  Doesn't that just make you stop and think?

Doesn't it?

Yes, God remembers.  Every time He sees the rainbow, He remembers.  He's not unaware, today.  The state of our nation is important to Him.

The state of our heart is even more important to Him.  No matter who is president to give the state of the nation addresses over the next several years, He is infinitely more concerned with the state of the heart, your heart, my heart.

Yes, God remembers! Next time you see a rainbow, trust confidently that He remembers.

It almost makes you want to go through the storms, doesn't it? Just to see the rainbow!

I was tagged!

I was tagged by Scottie!

Some of you have seen this fun little game. I've written a bit of unknown facts about myself, that I hope you'll enjoy learning.

After accomplishing this I will tag a new group of people (supposed to be six people), who are then given the charge to write a blog with six bits of trivia about themselves.

Those who I tag are charged to pass this game on to 6 new people!

Here's my chance to jump in! Now, let's see if I can come up with some interesting facts about myself.

1. My nickname "Dawncy"  is from my first and middle names...Dawn Collette...Dawn C.!  Get it? hahaha!

2. I'm not a big sports fan, but, once in awhile I get very into a baseball game.

3. My favorite music is contemporary Christian, along with praise and worship. Nothing is better in life, to me, than to exalt His name in worship. I used to do a little singing, and truly loved seeing people come into His presence.

4. Some of my favorite movies: (don't laugh) Brother Sun, Sister Moon; Catch Me If You Can; The Sound Of Music.

5. I have always wanted to be a writer. The goal is ever in the back of my mind to write a book that will change the world, but, somehow, it just never happens. Anyway, the book's already been written and is called the Bible.

6. I much prefer dogs to cats!

I haven't yet discovered who I will tag, but will update this blog when I do! So, better watch out!   ;)

ok, here's my update of the lucky few!  I'm tagging:

CONSERVATIVE blog bans Conservative Post

In an unscrupulous attempt to censor my conservative comments, a CONSERVATIVE blog banned my post. They labeled it hate speech, because I spoke against homosexuality and abortion. I suggest that these Democratic causes contribute to Radicalism's hatred of America.

Democratic Coffers (Causes) Feed Radicalism...Part 1

Democratic Coffers (Causes) Feed Radicalism...Part 2

I seriously question if they even read my post. A couple of fellow bloggers had indicated their offense, which simply could have been indicated as a disagreement with my views. My conservative views were stated gently, but firmly. The tone that I had tried to emphasize was one of "speak the truth in love".

Alternatively (isn't that a word choice?), I believe that silence should be considered hate speech on the topics as I presented them. Not bringing these issues to the forefront is what is hateful, because it allows destructive notions to go unchecked.

Please, go here and let it be known that censorship of my article is inappropriate, and, completely uncalled for in light of the context of my article.

Democratic Coffers (Causes) Feed Radicalism...Part 2

As promised, the second half of "Democratic Coffers (Causes) Feed Radicalism"...

The issues of homosexuality and abortion loom larger than they have the right to. Again, the core issue of Democrats is weakness and in gentle strength, we who are spiritual ought to restore such ones as these to health and good works. It is no more difficult than that. The ramifications of allowing homosexuality and abortion to have free reign in the political realm puts us all in jeopardy. These two issues have a greater global effect than many we see in the daily news. I believe these are greater problems than those of nuclear emissions or terrorism, because they erode us from the inside out.

Can I justify these statements?

The issues that Democrats have hidden behind, in their own weakness, of abortion and homosexuality cause the affront of America to be viewed as one of arrogance. We have placed ourselves above God, in the mind of radicalism, because we have deemed it our right to tolerate that which God hates. Nothing justifies the demonstration of radicalism, but, maybe we can learn a bit about what really is behind the hatred for America and the heart of this extreme ideology.

You see, I don't think it's necessarily our wealth, technology, or even our political stratosphere that radicalism is against. If we look with rose colored glasses, we convince ourselves that we are hated by radicalism because we are good and we arrive at this conclusion because we are wealthy. Technologically advanced.

If we take off those rose colored glasses, I believe we will see that radicalism hates us because we are immoral. In my understanding, immorality is seen as arrogance by these extreme ideologies.

It may be just a stone's throw away---the distance between us.

Our own social debauchery (i.e. homosexuality and abortion) may be what frightens radicalism, not so much because they see our freedom to tolerate these immoral concepts, but because they see the leadership of America is being eroded.

Radicalism needs America to continue to be a leader. Radicalism fears its own power and recognizes that self destruction is also their end when their power goes unchecked. A strong America can keep boundaries around radical ideology. A strong America, yes, with its many allies, can reign in radical ideology and place it in the position that allows us to benefit from its constructs, not suffer from its destructions.

Perhaps Democratic thought can begin to grasp this summation. Homosexuality and abortion are the decline and the defeat of the Democratic Party. These causes are weakness and they equal the decline and defeat of something much larger that we all love. Democrat, Republican, any salutation we give ourselves within this large, vast heartland and homeland that we call America.

Democratic footing is going to be shaken by this article. We, as Democrats (ah---there I am inside of this Party), don't want to adhere to causes that have no right to destroy us... as a party or as a nation.

Religion! There it is again in the middle of every war.

If that be so, my Democratic friends, may we please take heed to temper our unions with that which truly prospers the heart and soul of the nation. History tells us that questionable unions precede the downfall of great nations. History is a story that we should study.

It's almost too common-sense to allude to it in this intellectual piece; if we support homosexuality and abortion, we annihilate ourselves. It's self hatred that we express. If we truly hate ourselves in this way, radicalism has every right to hate us, as well.

We've invited this hatred, yes, but not for the reasons Democratic thought prevails upon. It's not because of the wealth, technological advances, strong military capability and the arrogance that may be perceived to go along with these things that we are hated. It's because of the erosion of morality in our society that we are perceived of as arrogant. Specifically, it's support of homosexuality and abortion, along with many other moral declines that invite the hatred of radicalism.

We've placed ourselves above God by allowing these behaviors to go rampant and unchecked in our society.

Therefore, yes, religion again. Perhaps there is a reason as to why religion is at the core of all wars. Perhaps we are intended to have something worth fighting for. Perhaps we need justification for our existence in this world.

If we stand up for what is right, I believe we will silence the hatred of radicalism. Our strong military capabilities will not be perceived as frightful contenders on the global scene because the justification for our actions will be more clear. Those of radical theology may have once looked upon America with hopeful eyes, but, now, they are confused by our confused political (and even, sexual) agenda. Our "freedom" (if you insist on calling it that) should not be an occasion of stumbling for others. Hatred of our moral decline is now coupled by fear of our political decline and the decline of our leadership amongst the nations.

This exposition can be summed up in this equation. Decline is the defeat which equals opportunity for extreme radical ideology. By virtue of their support of issues that speak moral decline, the Democratic Party has placed themselves in a cage they can't afford to be placed in. The walls of this cage will collapse on them and, if we're not careful, they will bring down an entire nation with them.

So frequently, blame is placed on the Republican Party for the rise in terrorism. The reality may be that Republicans have bled dearly over wounds brought about by the carelessness of Democratic causes. These causes have greater ramifications than the popular demise of the Democratic Party. Homosexuality and abortion have put the Democratic Party in the limelight, rather than the Democratic Party illuminating these causes. As such, the Democratic Party may have lost on both sides of the issues.

These words prove my friendship with those in the Democratic Party. I have offered instruction, herein, that can produce greater life for this Party. My Democratic friend may have the opportunity to represent me if he or she will cease and desist from representing what are now traditional Democratic thesis. This thesis isn't traditional me. It isn't traditional American. It simply sets up Democrats in their own society; one that is not part of the real America.

In this Light, radicalism may not be that radical. The depth of our well-being depends on us and not the extreme actions of radicalism. This discourse has been staged, before, but it was Democrats casting Republican ideals as the cause of radical hatred for America. The Republican Party has stood before the accuser, silently.

Isn't it time to face facts?

We face our weakness in this article (to a degree). Isn't it time to face the fact that we don't have the right to hide behind causes that the public views as "worse" than ourselves and our self? Selfish protectiveness has caused us to obscure who we really are by promoting the causes of the homosexual and the one who seeks abortion of their own child. We know that the frame of these individuals is weak and, therefore, we've obscured ourselves and hidden behind these.

How depraved and god-awful these causes are in the mind of the public and, therefore, we know we can obscure who we really are in the political realm by hiding behind these causes. We are true cowards who have exploited such weakness.

Please, Democratic friend, I'll call you a brother and a sister if you stand up for who you really are. I can’t vote when there's not a real person to vote for. I certainly can't vote for these fabricated causes. I want the chance to vote for who you are. I simply don't want to vote for the depravity of America and the destruction of ourselves.

Own your demise, today, and receive life from this exposition. Radical hatred is not the result of Republican ideals.

Democratic Coffers (Causes) Feed Radicalism...Part 1

I have frequently fought the conceptual basis of democratic thought and I now find it a deep struggle to embrace members of the Democratic Party. Wanting to change my stance, I’m fighting to grasp something that will open the door to reach the heart of the democratic person, not just the party.

Homosexuality is wrong.

Dead wrong.

Abortion is wrong.

D   d wrong.

I’ve prayed and asked, "Is there a clue, Lord, that will get to this deeply, morally wrong emphasis?"

Yes, I know Jesus is the answer and I hold the keys . . . but. . . where do I make these keys fit in the theology of the Democratic thought processes?

It's like a painful joint that struggles to move. I have to practice this, or I’ll lose the opportunity to bring those in this deep darkness to the Light.

You'll lose the opportunity, Lord, because I'm your instrument. I know the ramifications. As a chosen one, it's not up to me to make them see my pain. It's up to me to look upon their pain and it's mine to seek the Healer of men's hearts on behalf of their pain.

Please take my hand, reader. I'm going to try to walk alongside them. That's what Jesus does for me. Take a first step with me...

It's scary, "Oh, I'm slipping. . . but, no, I find firm footing, here. "

What? My eyes . . . something is funny. . . not quite right? It all looks different when I look with their eyes. Such a scary world. Frightful!

Everything really is against me. . . er . . . uh. . . against them.

"Because I have no hope, I have to create my own!" That's what I'm sensing is in the heart of those I'm trying to walk alongside of.

These eyes are quite difficult, Lord, because I have Hope and I have You. It’s because of this hope that I embark on this exposition. Cause my reader to seek instruction that offers life. These words may bring anger, initially, but, ultimately, they bring life.

The heart of many in the Democratic Party does not have Hope, and they're forced to defend against any who would come against them.

Even a baby?

How threatened they must feel! "Lord, provide a real answer to this false insecurity. "

When I step back into the world You've created for me, Lord, I want to protect the one who might, just might, one day come against me.

Even a baby.

What threat they feel, Lord. I'm beginning to see.

They even distort their defense to cover one who has no moral ground to stand on. They know the homosexual has no ground to stand on, so they stretch their defense in the cause of one who will offer no resistance. For lack of resistance and self control has led these poor ones to a weak and debacled state.

Homosexuality and abortion are a covering that masks the real issue and heart of the Democratic person. They lack strength to stand against these issues that diabolically oppose the well being of our nation. Homosexuality and abortion are actually weak causes because their outcome is self destruction. One who lacks strength to stand against such weak causes illuminates their weakness and disqualifies their leadership capacity. Therefore, weakness is the root cause of the Democrat, but, it's to preserve weakness that they fight.

Lord, when I step back into my world, I see that my fight is also for the weak.

To annihilate it.

To stamp it out. To not only place the one who is weak into God, but to see God become alive in this weak one. This is the place weakness should lead us to. This is the harmony of life, if you will. We are weak, He is strong.

The one who is in a weakened state becomes prey for . . .

Do you see it?

They become prey for those who will exploit their weakness. Hiding behind the causes of homosexuality and abortion , Democrats mask their own weakness. They masquerade as champions of these causes, yet, they are actually promoting themselves. All the while, those adherents of these unprincipled lifestyles suffer for lack of truth that gives life.

I try to take a gentle approach, but, I find my anger entering this dialogue. I hear that homosexuality and abortion are their cause, but, the real cause of the Democratic Party is weakness that seeks covering from these "causes".

Democratic thought fears that which is within its own heart---weakness.

Don't we all!???

While some of us respond to our own weaknesses (infirmity, if you will) with the seeking to hold the Hand of One much stronger, yet much more tender, some of the democratic persuasion react to their own weakness with protectiveness. Defensive opposition is the result of this protectiveness. Inside this fragile shell is a deep-rooted fear that has never been faced. It's the fear that "I'm as weak as I really think I am".

Yes, while some of us respond to our weakness by seeking to hold the strong Hand of our Loving Heavenly Father, we face our weakness. Isn’t that the basics of the basics of this life; we are weak, He is strong. There is not a deeper truth, there is not a more noble road, my Christian Friend. Face weakness. Face it! From that point of contact, we can reach out to others. We are humbled by our weakness and God’s strong hand. Humble persuasion should be the result of this confrontation of weakness. If we are changed by this encounter with ourselves, our weakness, and our God, we remain lost and weak unless we seek to persuade others for and toward God.

Can we please persuade, now?

The issues of homosexuality and abortion loom larger than they have the right to. Again, the core issue of Democrats is weakness and in gentle strength, we who are spiritual ought to restore such ones as these to health and good works. It is no more difficult than that. The ramifications of allowing homosexuality and abortion to have free reign in the political realm puts us all in jeopardy. These two issues have a greater global effect than many we see in the daily news. I believe these are greater problems than those of nuclear emissions or terrorism, because they erode us from the inside out.

Can I justify these statements?

Stay tuned...part 2 will be  here tomorrow!

RE: Problem Installing Husband Software

Dear Tech Support,

Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance

-- particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5.

Then he installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0 and Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversion 8.0 no longer runs and House Cleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems but to no avail.

What can I do?

Signed,
Desperate

************************************************************************ **** ***********************************

Dear Desperate,

First keep in mind Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an operating System.

Please enter the command: "http:\\I Thought You Loved Me.html" and try to download Tears 6.2 and don't forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.

If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1. Beer 6.1 is a very bad program that will download the Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do , DO NOT install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources).

Also, do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program. These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend Food 3.0.

Good Luck,
Tech Support

A Tale of Two Wars

A Tale of Two Wars

"We're talking about a war, here!"

"Yes, but don't you see?"

"I see that you're trying to pledge full speed ahead, not considering any of our opinions. We're in leadership, too. Don't we get to have a say?"

Our times are not just precipitous, our times are prophetic. The banter, as described above, continues in our nation's capital. I'm very angered.

I'm not angry that there's disagreement. I expect leaders to have differing opinions. I expect these opinions to be discussed in a way that contributes to the well-being of our country, our citizens, to the well-being of me.

I'm not angry that there's disagreement. I'm angry that this discord that has become so public that our enemies are rejoicing. They've put the first chink in our armor. Can't you hear their elation as spelled out in continued attacks, their ceaseless fighting? Do you not know that the greatest fuel to this fight is discord in American politics, that has spilled out into American society?

Where is this discord coming from and where is it leading to?

I going to be a little "petti". It's a fight for control. And, it's wagered by those who speak loudest about equality. Yet, Democrats have been given leadership, but they prefer control. Equality means nothing. Leadership has no accolades. Control, however, will boot out those who disagree with them. If they're allowed full reign, they'll define who has rights and who doesn't. That's where equality is pure.

If Democrats were children, they'd be put in timeout. But, they're not children and this display is shameful, despicable.

Yes, it's A Tale of Two Wars, and in both wars, soldiers are dying; our well-being is jeopardized. One is thousands of miles away, but close to our hearts. One is in our nation's political realm and, literally, attacks the heart of our safety and security. It's unbearable to the hearts of those who offer those who really are children, sons and daughters, held in the heart of families and of the entire nation. These sons and daughters are much more mature, much more courageous than political figures who exploit causes above triumph. It's true, in war, someone loses.

But in this political discord, we all lose.

Sleeper Cells in America

Sleeper Cells in America

"You see, it isn't that Americans have lost their Christian roots, it's that Christians have lost their American roots. They don't know that the American story, and the larger story of Western Civilization, is their story. No wonder they don't vote. They don't understand America was and is the greatest expression of Christian values in all of history."   By Frank Pastore, Sunday, January 28, 2007, Town Hall article

Listen! Do you hear it? There is an alarm going off!

I like what Frank had to say in his article "Why So Few Christian Patriots?".  Truthfully, I think it's a combination of Christians losing their American roots and Americans losing their Christian roots.  These terms are not interchangeable, but, Americans definitely can benefit from their Christian heritage.  It doesn't work the other way around.  Christianity is not blessed because of America; America definitely is blessed because of Christianity.

So, where's the problem? We founded our country on Christian principles, isn't God obligated to bless us, now? We've held up our end, haven't we?

This mentality is ruining not only our country, but, individual families, as well.  It's hard to tell which comes first, but, it's important to note both are necessary problems to tackle.  In families, parents have erroneously handed off the concept that they have worked so hard that their children should benefit, now.  Yes, it's true that the children should benefit.  They should benefit from the lessons of hard work, and continue the tradition for their own children.  Are we all prodigals, seeking our inheritance today, for tomorrow we die?!

Politically speaking, we've fallen into this same trap.  Our forefathers laid the foundation, thus, today is our day of celebration.  I'm all for receiving the blessings of God, but, perhaps we need to employ a little Johnny Appleseed mentality.  When we enjoy the fruit, we need to plant a seed.

Instead, I get the feeling we think we're still in the Garden of Eden.  We have no sin and we have no consequences.  Nothing is off-limits in the realm of indulgence, and perhaps Christians are the worst of all.  Jesus Christ has paid the price, therefore, there are no consequences for our sins.  I don't know where the disconnect has been formed,  but this is about as far from spiritual truth as it can get.  Jesus Christ has paid the price, but He is also the one who said, "Go and sin no more".

Sleeper cells are in America.

At our finger tips, Christian Americans have the most powerful opportunities available to them of anywhere in the world and of anyone in history.  Nowhere in time and place has there been afforded such power and such opportunity to any group of people than to us as Christian Americans.  Yet. . .

Sleeper cells are in America.

Are we simply numb? We probably have more prompters poking at us that we know what to do with.  It's not a matter of not knowing what we can do, as in a "throw up our hands" gesture, it may be more a matter of having innumerous options.

Therefore, I come to the conclusion that there are sleeper cells in America.  Christians who think that there's so much that can be done, that surely someone else is doing it and it's our right and our time to "rest on our laurels".  "We deserve a break, today . . . let's get away!"

Christians are the sleeper cells in America.  As Frank Pastore pointed out, a dismal minority votes in the elections.  As far as I can see, this is truly the least that we can do.

Can't push a button on an election prompter? Christians are the sleeper cells in America.

Sleeper cells may very well be awake.

Divided Front...A Liberal Concept?

There's a lot of talk , these days, about the divided front in America's political realm. There's a lot of danger, these days, in presenting that divided front.

Fact is, years ago, when we were employed in the war fronts, that people could dissent openly and publicly, and, though it was shocking, it was allowed. People didn't see any greater ramifications than the promotion of themselves and their ideals. That was thought to be a good thing. Fact is, good things may have come about from dissension in the past.

Yes, we learned a great deal about how to treat veterans. The anti-war protesters of the Vietnam era were dissenters that taught us a lot. We learned not to entice our own feelings upon the public attitude, thereby creating a hostile environment for returning veterans. Nowadays, service members don't have to return in order to feel the hostile environment; it's so potent that it reaches over the seas and across the airwaves to not only service members and our allies, but to the lands that we're attempting to liberate and the enemies who are trying to capitulate these lands.

Years ago, many knew and understood the ramifications of dissenting "liberals". The name may not have meant much at that time, because liberal was thought of as someone who was open-minded, respectful of others viewpoints. However, the term liberal may be a term that has been misused for decades. In the 1960's and thereabout, many knew that the term liberal was being flaunted about by reactionaries who felt that their cause was to present other viewpoints, regardless of their own convictions. The error, here, is that I believe that people of a true liberal mind have the conviction to present viewpoints that will enhance the well-being of those around them. Liberal has strayed from its own ideals.

By today's definition, I would be known as a Republican conservative. However, I consider the definition of my theology to be liberal. I'm very open-minded to viewpoints that promote the well-being of my country. I'm more respectful to those who disagree with me, as a Republican conservative, than I see my Democratic friends are to me and to Republican conservatives, in general. John Kerry highlighted this in his international fumbling, when he stated that "the U.S. has become an international pariah". Again, the definition of liberal is one who is respectful of others viewpoints. Again, my theology as a Republican conservative causes me to line up with liberal ideals more than those who tout this label.

I wonder where "Liberals" would be if the voting public actually voted for true liberal ideals rather than checking the Democrat box on their ballot.

Liberal, like the term "gay", has been hijacked. It does not stand for open-minded, respectful ideals. Perhaps because there is such a feeling of entanglement by Democrats, both in the public and the non famous sector, the term (or label) "Liberal" provides an escape. Democrats seem to feel that they are the oppressed (or at least they represent them) and calling themselves liberal offers a feeling of escape from the reality that they are simply rebellious dissenters of those whose ideals are far above their own. Because they know they are not going to be allowed to lead in causes that outrank their own, they set up their own accord and belittle those who champion causes that actually promote and enhance the well-being of our country.

Yes, I too, would seek escape if I found myself caught up in such unworthy causes as Democrats promulgate.

Duke rape case

The Duke rape case has no special appeal to me, nor to any of us, I would imagine. Personally, I'm not legally inclined enough to weigh the outcomes and come up with my own verdicts. But, at the same time, I feel some investment, here.

I know that the world is edging towards convicting the accuser, and it may very well be that she is as guilty as anyone in the case. In fact, I wholeheartedly believe that she is guilty.

Call me old-fashioned. I believe, however, that stripping for boys is not a reputable occupation. Therein is why I call her guilty.

Get off it! Don't tell me the job market is hard and she couldn't find a better job. Let's get real.

I'm frequently looking for people to do work, and have to pursue them relentlessly to get them to do a little cooking, a little cleaning, and just plain attending to daily living needs for people who can't care for these things themselves because of a physical disability or the fact that they are elderly. I suppose, in fairness, there's a difference in what one pays over another. Does that justify this behavior?

A woman taking her clothes off for groups of unswarthy gentlemen may offer more money in the bank, but deeply depletes the soul. What could be in the account of the souls of these women?

No, really, you're going to tell me that we live in a progressive society and women are free to do what they wish to do. Right?

Wrong!

Creating an atmosphere for boys that will allow them to fantasize over things that women and children are raped and murdered for is wrong.

Dead wrong!

Women have more than rights in the civilized world; women have responsibilities.

Funny, we've come so far since Genesis. It was Cain saying, "Am I my brothers' keeper?" Now, it's Jane saying, "Am I my sisters' keeper?"

I beg, I plead, I implore you to get serious. Look at what your actions are doing to yourself and to those around you. You're not alone in this world. Are you contributing to the well-being of those around you, or you contributing to the depraved state of this world? The answer to this question is pretty easy; the solution is not.

"One person can't make a difference! There's so much out there that throwing my body into the ring won't make a bit of difference!" That's what I'm hearing, but, I completely disagree. One person who stands against the downward pull of our depravity will start a reverberating wave that hell will never be able to quell.

I speak to you as though you were an intelligent person, my dark sided friend. That's because I believe that you are intelligent, and that you can make a difference.

Please let my statement sink into your mind, let it sink deeply .

"Creating an atmosphere for boys that will allow them to fantasize over things that women and children are raped and murdered for is wrong.

Dead wrong!"

Can I speak, yet, to another guilty party in the Duke rape case?

I can see, you thought you were getting off easy. Fact is, the fellows are more guilty than anybody else in this account.

When I was in college, I would have been murdered... by my parents if they had known I was in association with any boys who hired a woman to come and "perform" for them! Oh, yes, we're in that progressive society! Sorry, guess I forgot!

All I can say is "Who do you think you are!?" I've referred to you as boys, rather than men, in this article. That's because real men would not be found in the atmosphere that these young boys were found in. The young boys in the Duke rape scenario created an atmosphere that placed themselves in jeopardy before there was ever an accuser.

I've seen some of the reports of parents of the boys who were accused in the Duke rape scenario defending their sons over the prosecutor in this case. It may well be that the prosecutor did not uphold proper legal standards. However, wouldn't it be better if parents upheld proper standards for their sons?

Wouldn't it be better if parents allowed their sons to face consequences when their actions were questionable?

Again, I speak of the accused using the term "boys" rather than men. Real man would not treat women the way these boys did. The downward spiral of societal standards isn't the fault of other people's kids. Centimeter by centimeter, inch by inch, yard by yard, the little "questionable" things that we do and allow children to do eat away at the fiber of our beings and our strength as a society. Isn't enough enough?

Yes, the downward spiral of societal standards continues as long as we turn a deaf ear to our own and our children's wrongful behavior.

Don't believe me?! Just look at Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival and the acceptance of "beastiality".

Thanks, Michael

Thanks, Michael, for a warm report of last night's speech. I'm reminded of scripture that says, "He's able to cut through to the heart of the matter". That's a little paraphrasing, and I know it speaks of what God's word does for hearts, but, President Bush was able to cut through to the heart of the matter.

I think it's a defining time, Democrats are going to appear foolish if they continue on the road to self destruction. They have appeared that way to some of us who could see further down the road than what Democratic causes seemed to have been able to. They have been very short-sighted, and it's costing all of us, dearly.

President/to give his State of the Union

President/to give his State of the Union
The President is about to give his State of the Union address.

I'm about to give my response, before I hear his address.

Some years, I can't offer this option, but, today I can say that I agree with the President. I haven't heard his speech, I don't know what terminology, what categorization, what issues, even, he will address. But, I am confident the job of the presidency is in the hands of the President.

The blogosphere atmosphere has made us all experts in realms we've never studied, never pursued, never had the opportunity to walk in the shoes of. I'm not against stating an opinion, but, when what is stated presumes that it has equal rank with the President, opinion has gone beyond its boundaries. I've heard many congressmen and congresswomen propelling their opinion, with the explanation that they have as much right to make decisions and form judgments as the President does, essentially because they are in a Washington office.

Let me say to you, congressional representative, that you may sit in a building next to the White House, but, many of us in the heartland and homeland we call America are closer to the judgments and the ideals of the President than you ever will be to the presidency.

When you go to make your own "responses", please take a look at who I am before you take a look ahead to who you want to be. Unless you really see me for who I am in the heartland and the homeland of America, you will not see the audience that the President sees tonight.
